Religious Education

Administrator: Rev. Daniel O'Brien, Pastor

Director of Religious Education: Mrs. Patricia Meyer

(717) 392-2930, email: resap@stanthonylancaster.com

Classes: Kingergarten, Grades 1–8, and RCIA for Children—Sunday mornings 8:15–10:30 a.m. (includes Mass)

Sacraments: First Penance and First Communion—grade 2;

                                 Confirmation—grade 8.

Philosophy:  Parents are the primary educators for their children in matters of faith.  Our program is designed to emphasize and assist in that serious responsibility.  The Sunday Religious Education program at St. Anbthony of Padua Church begins at the Kindergarten level up to grade 8.  We also have a Transition I and II class for those children who have been baptized, are past the second grade, and are in need of the sacraments of First Penance and Communion.  RCIA for Children is geared to those children over the age of 7 entering the program who have not been baptized and are in need of the sacraments.

Our program implements the catechetical norm and regulations of the Diocese of Harrisburg.

Special needs children and youth shall have full access to religious education and the sacramental preparation. Every effort will be made to instruct and mainstream special needs children into the Religious Education Program.

No child will be denied a religious education due to financial circumstances.  The registration for the Religious Education Program is Fair Share—you pay whatever you can afford.

Teachers: Our teachers are volunteers from the parish and work toward achieving their religious certification through the Diocese of Harrisburg.  Every catechists must have their PA State Police Clearance, the PA Department of Public Welfare Clearance, and pass the Diocesan Youth Protection test.
